Empowering Rural Seniors Through Media Literacy INMERS (International Media Literacy Empowered Rural Seniors) is an initiative funded by the European Commission’s Creative Europe program.
Its goal is to improve media literacy among people over 65 living in rural areas, with a special focus on regions where multiple languages are spoken, in order to strengthen personal autonomy, critical thinking, and the active participation of older adults in the digital society.
The project will operate in three pilot regions—Navarra, Lapland, and Transylvania—
over a two-year period
to assess the level of media literacy among older adults, analyze their vulnerabilities to misinform¬ation,
design tailored training materials, develop practical workshops, and produce a European Guide to Media Literacy.
In addition, local trainers will be trained to ensure the project’s sustainability, and the impact of the actions will be evaluated, with the results disseminated at the European level.
Co-funded by the European Union. The views and opinions expressed are the sole responsibility of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
